Jay Z Coming to Town?

Corporate jets are rarely painted in interesting schemes so, when they are, you notice them.  This one showed at at Boeing Field with a puma on the tail.  A bit of research when back home suggests it is a project between Jay Z and the sport gear manufacturer Puma.  I think it is to help out athletes that are sponsored by them.  The registration is apparently a reference to Jay Z himself.  I have no idea who was on it on this occasion.  Maybe Sean was onboard?

HondaJet

This HondaJet was on an FBO ramp at Paine Field.  I have seen one close up at Oshkosh and a few at a distance while flying but this was the closest I had got to one in the wild.  It is certainly a curious looking jet.  The engine mounts are the focus of a lot of attention but I am also a little put off by the front fuselage shaping around the cockpit windows.  Having only one product doesn’t seem like a sustainable approach but maybe Honda has ideas for more to come.  If they do, we shall see if they continue with this design philosophy or go in a different direction.

My First Global 7500

I was a touch disappointed that a Global 7500 demonstrator from Bombardier landed at Boeing Field about 15 minutes before I got there.  I had not seen one previously and I missed it arriving.  It was parked up across the field although the heat haze was not making for much of a shot.  The following morning they filed a flight plan for departure at a time which meant I could get there before having to go to work so I headed across.  In common with these things, they weren’t exactly prompt.  However, they still taxied and got airborne in plenty of time for me.  The morning light limits your shooting locations so I was further down field than ideal and the jet was quite high but I have still finally got one.  They will be loads of them before too long but, for now, I am pleased to have this one.

Global Finding Everett Sun

Returning from Whidbey with Paul, we stopped off at Paine Field to see what might be moving.  There was a bit of frustration with a delayed departure that we couldn’t catch but we got a few bits and pieces and that included a Global 6000.  This one popped up on approach just as the sun was reappearing from behind the clouds so we could get some nice light on it as it crossed the threshold and touched down.

Dornier 328Jet

The FBO ramps at McCarran had a selection of Dornier 328Jets.  I noticed one at first and only later realized that there were more.  What did please me was seeing a bus pull up by one of them with the door open.  I figured we would have a flight before too long.  Indeed it did, in due course, power up, taxi down to the departure end and take off.  It was a bit far away but I’ll take a 328Jet when the opportunity arises.

The Convair CV580 has shown up in a couple of posts at least so far.  Getting to Everett early one morning prior to heading to Whidbey Island, it was a pleasant surprise to see it out on the ramp.  It was even nicer to see the door was open.  Before too long the giant square blades of the props started to turn and they were heading off.  They did turn the opposite way to what I was hoping for when they taxied but nothing to sniff at.  We decided to see whether we could get to the end of the field before they did but they must have taxied smartly and got a quick take off clearance because they were up and away as we drove towards to the runway.  Still, a nice start to the day.

Sands 747SPs

It’s always interesting to see what is at the Sands ramp at McCarran.  The flight of luxury jets for bringing in the high rollers to play at the casino is a mix of types.  Some “normal” Gulfstream, an A340-500 and the Boeing 747SP.  I was delighted to see that two SPs were parked up on the ramp the morning I was there.  Seeing them move was a bit much to ask but getting them in some lovely light immediately after sunrise was a good alternative.

The Vision Returns

My first encounter with this Cirrus SF50 Vision was in this post.  It was scheduled for departure while I was on some calls and I hoped it would time its departure conveniently for me.  I was lucky and it headed out just after I finished a call and before I headed back to the eastside.  The skies were not friendly for getting a shot but it was still nice to see it in action and the flat light avoided any harsh shadows and deep contrast.

Bill’s G650

Another stint in the lots by Boeing Field to deal with some phone calls prior to heading back out of Seattle after some meetings and some more interesting movements.  A G650 landed while I was there.  I was on a call so I didn’t have an opportunity to get a shot of it as it landed and rolled out which was a shame.  It parked up across from me and an SUV took the occupants away.  Then it was pushed into a hangar.  A quick search on the registration gives a company name and Googling that shows it is associated with Bill Gates.  Looks like he has a nice jet although I think he needs a new Global 7500 if he wants to stay on top of things.
