Arrowhead Of Snow

The water in Crater Lake was very smooth when we were there which made for great reflections of the rim of the caldera.  One the other side of the crater, there was a snow bank on the side of the bowl which looked like a parallelogram.  With the reflection in the water, I thought it looked a bit like an arrowhead.  I am not much of a visionary when it comes to abstract images but even I saw this and thought it looked promising.

Abstract Dam Views

There were many odd shapes on the face of the Grand Coulee Dam.  With the water running down in parts and some of the structure of the dam breaking up the smooth face, it was possible to see some unusual patterns in the surface.  There were many power lines strung across the water in front of the dam so these could distract from the shapes so I tried moving around to be between each of the lines.  With the texture of the face of the dam it was possible to look closely at elements and have no obvious clue what they were.

Abstract Earth Erosion

Driving south on the Pacific Coast Highway, I was quite taken by the patterns in the earth resulting from erosion by the rain.  The soil is obviously soft and so has worn in patterns that are quite striking.  I think we were driving south when the light was best for the patterns.  The shadows were very pronounced.  On the way back I stopped to take some shots.  They were interesting but the light had moved to be more head on so the contrast was not as pronounced.  However, I still think the shapes made some interesting abstract patterns.
